Here is a 1924 copy of Mark Twain's Chapters from My Autobiography which i bought yesterday....I had been listening to an audio version first, then decided to go to the book, which lead to a fascinating and disturbing discovery. Twain purposely wrote his autobiography jumping from present to past, writing a very unconventional and I think brilliant piece of work in the process. So I checked out his autobiography from the library only to discover the editor of this particular edition I got (Charles Neider in 1959)had put Twain's life in 'proper' sequence-from birth to death- and had the nerve to copyright what he did! In other words he destroyed Twain's intention, his work of art and has made money off its subsequent publications. I think Mark Twain would have found this highly amusing and would have had a few really sharp, funny comments about it. and what a Puddin' Head this guy was-...anyway, I was then out looking for the REAL book and hence, this lovely 1924 copy...
